This Could Be Good
-2004-
Baby’s In Red
By Joe Dickinson
Well my baby has a fortune
But she won't share it with me
I've been climbing on her window
I've been sitting in her seat
Well that fortune telling lady
She is dead
And I'm all dressed in white but
My baby's in red
Well my soul is on vacation
And my honor it is lost
And she’s coming up with reasons
That I never would have thought
Well that guilty media
Is in my head
And I’m all dressed in white but
My baby’s in red
I’ve been waiting in your footsteps
I’ve been down upon my knees
I’ve watching from the mountain
I’ve been climbing up on trees
Well the dreams of my past
They are dead
And I’m all dressed in white but
My baby’s in red
On the D Train
By Joe Dickinson
We were standing on the corner
Talking about the things we do
The city streets are made of madness
And I am you
I remember New York City
I remember the Taj Mahal
I remember the sunset in your eyes
Like we never lived at all
Oh can you hear my heart
You’re holding it in your hands
Don’t let me down
I am waiting
On the D train
On the D train
We were walking on the river
In the middle of black and white
I heard a sound
And so I stumbled
Into the string of a stranger’s kite
Oh can you hear my heart
You’re holding it in your hands
Don’t let me down
I am waiting
On the D train
On the D train
Freedom’s father called my phone
He stabbed a knife right into my back
I’m not afraid to show my feelings
And to list all the things I lack
Oh can you hear my heart
You’re holding it in your hands
Don’t let me down
I am waiting
On the D train
On the D train
My Blue Eyed Diamond of the Lake
By Joe Dickinson
She was born about a year after me
Lived in the west but she moved to the east
To be close to the lake that she saw in her dreams
When she arrived she was younger than most
But never afraid, afraid of the ghost
That waited there silently on the lake’s coast
She kept on growing she just couldn’t wait
To see what was out there, to find out her fate
But in the cool misty fog all she saw was the lake
By teenage years she’d been through it all
Nowhere to run, and nowhere to fall
But when she looked in the mirror her reflection she saw
I met my dream when I was fifteen
She’s shown me more than I’ve ever seen
And her eyes shimmer blue like a beautiful dream
My blue eyed diamond
My blue eyed diamond
My blue eyed diamond
Of the lake
My blue eyed diamond
My blue eyed diamond
My blue eyed diamond
Of the lake
Don’t Know Why I Come
By Joe Dickinson
I don’t even know why I came girl
I don’t even know why I come
Nothing here is ever the same girl
Gotta learn to get me some
Well the moral of this story
Is you can’t give up on love
And if everything you’re dreaming of
Is sent from up above
I don’t even know why I came girl
I don’t even know why I come
Nothing here is ever the same girl
Gotta learn to get me some
Well the mighty men they thumb their nose
At the ones they serve they swear
And I don’t fit in with anyone
So why do I even care
Well the moral of this story
Is you can’t give up on love
And if everything you’re dreaming of
Is sent from up above
I don’t even know why I came girl
I don’t even know why I come
Nothing here is ever the same girl
Gotta learn to get me some
The Smiles Outweigh the Tears
By Joe Dickinson
I couldn’t find the words to tell
You just how I feel
I couldn’t think of what to say
To make my love seem real
Oh I know you don’t believe in anything
That hasn’t been tried and true
But open up your arms and just let me in
I swear I’ll be the man for you
I swear I’ll be the man for you
Life when you’re young doesn’t seem to end
Every day goes so slow
Now everything just moves to fast
Where did my time go
Oh you know I don’t believe in anything
That doesn’t go and make me blue
But open up your arms and just let me in
I swear I’ll be the man for you
I swear I’ll be the man for you
Every man has a dream
But not every dream comes true
Oh how could I have known that it would be like this
Never in a million years
And every time I want to leave I think
The smiles outweigh the tears
The smiles outweigh the tears
The smiles outweigh the tears
The smiles outweigh the tears
Reality #33
By Joe Dickinson
Sentimental feelings get you nowhere my friend
You’ve got to live your life now with no regrets
I’m swimming back upstream but I’ve been down
No such thing as royalty so take off your crown
All my life
All my life
All these dreams
All these dreams
I’m not the same but I don’t feel like I have changed
I see the future like I see the pouring rain
No one will ever know the way the you make me feel
I’ll crucify myself to keep my heart concealed
All my life
All my life
All these dreams
All these dreams
I see the real you no makeup on your face
I am a hypocrite my name I have disgraced
Life is a deck of cards you’d better learn to deal
Go tell the one you love how you really feel
All my life
All my life
All these dreams
All these dreams
She’s In Love With the Rain
By Joe Dickinson
Darkness moving in slowly
My love she’s on her way
The past it means nothing
She’s in love with the rain
Flowers sleeping softly
Valentines drive her insane
Something is making sense now
She’s in love with the rain
Friendship knocks on my window
I’ve never felt so much pain
I love her more than life itself but
She’s in love with the rain
Artists paint her picture
Her spirit they’re trying to tame
While I am slowly dying
She’s in love with the rain
So hopeless and so lonely
My soul it was starting to drain
‘Til she brought me a smile and said
“I’m in love with the rain”
Her mind is like the garden
We both think quite the same
I will never hurt her
She’s in love with the rain
All our roads lead somewhere
All of our thoughts have an aim
But I just want to be in her life
She’s in love with the rain
Some men love your outside
Some men think you’re a game
But I think you’re a privilege
She’s in love with the rain
Always, Your Friend
By Joe Dickinson
It’s easy to forget your place
And think that you don’t have a face
But when you’re in need
Please come back to me
I promise I’m always your friend
The road that we traveled has split
But some things you can’t just forget
The smile of the sun
As an empty day’s done
I promise I’m always your friend
The crystal is scary unclear
And everything’s tainted with fear
When loneliness creeps
And sadness it seeps
I promise I’m always your friend
They say every good thing must die
And we can sit here and ask why
Or move on accept it
Deny it reject it
I promise I’m always your friend
Remember the minutes we’ve shared
And all of the people who cared
The ghost of the past
Will fade on us fast
But I promise I’m always your friend
A candle it burns to the ground
A silence it shatters the sound
Closing the chapter
A new one begins
And I promise I’m always your friend
The future is littered with dreams
Don’t wait until fate intervenes
Wherever you go
I want you to know
I promise I’m always your friend
Feel Good Blues
By Joe Dickinson
They took me to the garden
Hung me out to dry
They took me to the garden
And they hung me out to dry
My lady she don’t love me
And she got no reason why
I raised my broken hand
But she looked the other way
I raised my broken hand
But she looked the other way
I’m sailing on this broken ship
Until a brighter day
I’m looking for the light
But my mind is getting lost
I’m looking for the light
But my mind is getting lost
I reached inside your heart
And I’m finding out the cost
My blood is dripping slowly
It’s bypassing my brain
My blood is dripping slowly
It’s bypassing my brain
I got nothing to lose
And I sure as hell ain’t got nothing to gain
Dear Mr President
By Joe Dickinson
Dear Mr President
Can you buy me a piece of mind tonight
I cry
Do we really have to fight for peace
How many have to die
Hate is breeding in the east
Hate is breeding in the west
But I am sleeping on a bed of ashes
Never put to rest
Dear Mr President
Can you buy me a piece of mind tonight
I cry
Do we really have to fight for peace
How many have to die
Blood is flowing on my streets
People drinking it like wine
But I am sleeping on a bed of ashes
Waiting for my time
Dear Mr President
Can you buy me a piece of mind tonight
I cry
Hate is breeding in the east
Hate is breeding in the west
But I am sleeping on a bed of ashes
Never put to rest
Dear Mr President
Can you buy me a piece of mind tonight
I cry
Do we really have to fight for peace
How many have to die
Can't Get You Out of My Head
By Joe Dickinson
It might be the way you dress
It might be ‘cause you’re such a mess
Turn me in I must confess
I just can’t get you out of my head
It might be the time of year
It might be ‘cause you’re right here
It might even be the beer
I just can’t get you out of my head
What does it take
To get someone like you
What does it take
What do I have to do
It might be your diamond eyes
It might be the way you drive
It might be your pumpkin pie
It might be ‘cause I’m insane
It might be ‘cause I’m in pain
It might be the crack cocaine
I just can’t get you out of my head
What does it take
To get someone like you
What does it take
What do I have to do
It might be ‘cause you can’t see
It might be ‘cause I’m a tree
It might be ‘cause you don’t want me
I just can’t get you out of my head
