That Ole Magic River

Words and music by Joe Dickinson

I take cover in that magic river

Where the sun is starting now to shine

All these years I’ve traveled by my lonesome self

When you’re different, the world is so unkind

I found shelter deep in my reflection

Where the smell of roses still remains

I can beat these demons if I know myself

I can break the silence of these chains

I walk blind yet have no fears or worries

Ghosts of love are screaming at my door

Oh I wish that I could mend my broken heart

Or just have you in my bed once more

Underwater but somehow still breathing

Lay your life into my lungs

Promise me, just swear before you leave this earth

That you’ll find a way to get your song sung

And take cover in that magic river

Where the sun is starting now to shine

All these years you’ve traveled by your lonesome self

Come with me and spend a little time
