Missing What I Should Have Found

Words and music by Joe Dickinson

I’ve got my mind all the time

Locked

On a feeling I can’t find

A face

All alone in the darkness

I’ve got my head in my bed

Cocked

And ready to descend

A race

I can’t win yet I can’t miss

The sun is my witness

As I walk near the church

And it hisses as I kiss the ground

And I’m lost in the sadness

And the feelings of hurt

Yet I’m missing what I should have found

Missing what I should have found

I’m either hot or distraught

Steady

Is a word that cannot

Be given

To myself or whatever lingers in there

I’ve got my fist and a list

Ready

To amuse and to kiss

The ribbons

That I hung in your hair

The moon is my Goddess

As I walk down her streets

Through the ruins of my hometown

And I’m lost in the sadness

Thought I could not be beat

Yet I’m missing what I should have found

Missing what I should have found

I’m tired of losing what I should have found
