Man of Honor
Words and music by Joe Dickinson
I'm independent but you know I can be bought
Step into my office we can have a little talk
And they say I'm a man of honor
But no I'm really not
Corruption, greed, honey this ain't nothing new
The strong survive and the weak end up like you
And they say I'm a man of honor
But no that isn't true
Mind you business, stay in line and say your prayers
Don't trust anyone, terror could be lurking anywhere
And they say I'm a man of honor
But I don't really care
Isn't it funny how the people can be played for little fools?
And isn't it funny how I never have to play by any rules?
And the say I'm a man of honor
But no I'm just a tool
Met a soldier's mom today, I said "thank you, your son was a good man"
She asked me what he died for, I said "he died for freedom ma'am"
And they say I'm a man of honor
But I don't give a damn
Look at my reflection I can't even glance in my own eyes
The point of my existence, to perpetuate a hundred million lies
And they say I'm a man of honor
But the truth is I'm dead inside
