Fire On McNaughton Street
Words and music by Joe Dickinson
There’s a fire down the road somewhere
I can see the smoke rising in the air
Trucks are rushing, racing past
Everything moving slow but it’s much too fast
I’m walking down the street, I’m taking in the sights
Thinking about what I’m gonna do tonight
Anything but be alone
Heartbroken down to the bone
There’s a fire down the road and it’s being put down
Some people go by other people gather round
Far too many cars trying to get to where they go
If I die tomorrow will anybody know?
Trying to get the time but my watch don’t work
I’m thinking about every single time I’ve been hurt
I miss you, want to kiss you, but you’re just out of reach
Everything you want to learn I will teach
There’s a fire down on McNaughton Street
I’m feeling hungry gonna grab a bite to eat
Everything is precious and I know it’s true
What matters to me might not matter to you
