Lifetime Lenses

by Joe Dickinson

another fortress, another tear,

another day with nothing to wear.

living on a daydream mixture and the sun.

i’ve heard you come, i’ve heard you fall,

it doesn’t bother me at all.

as a matter of fact it doesn’t bother anyone.

new day rising in the east,

new hopes on the horizon.

wonder what i can make myself do today,

wonder if i’ll keep rising?

fortune’s folly, fortune’s friend,

that won’t happen to me again.

take a good look and enjoy it while you can.

you can taste, you can waste,

you can shoot the air with your toothpaste,

if you do make sure to wash your hands.

top hat and a bag of stilts,

hung up on a far away jam.

walk away into the heat,

go buy yourself a croissant with ham...

poor health, poor wealth,

poor use of staying stealth.

something in the way that things are...

bad cop, good stop,

party leads to one drop.

i will come to be with you, near or far.
